Bihar Verdict: Implications (18 November 2015)
After five stages of voting and results, the Bihar election is now over. Grand alliance has got a pure mandate. Bihar results have led us to think about several phenomena of Bihar. Bihar is the third largest populated state with the maximum density. If we categorize the population of Bihar on the basis of caste, we find it is OBC mandated state. Here the population share of the general category is 16%, OBC 51%, Dalits 16% and Muslim 6%. literacy rate of Bihar is 63 % which is less than the national average (i.e., 75%). The election started with the agenda of development however, with the time it came on the religion and finished at the caste. Regarding the Polls, religion became an agenda when AIMIM decided to contest. Dadari was another issue that played a vital role in initial poll polarization. in the end, caste played as the result deciding factor.
