Monolithic Hypocrisy (अखंड पाखंड) (13/08/2021)

Our India is peculiar; lately, Neeraj Chopra earned a gold medal in the javelin throw game, and now the Indian government has opened its mint; what an irony, in the preparation stage, he was not even getting the balanced diet that is required for a javelin thrower (his coach Uwe Hohn once confirmed). The players put a lot of effort into bringing themselves on the podium; it is tough to even launch into the Olympics with limited resources and assistance. This strange mentality of Indian governments is not limited to a particular realm. It is extended to research, training, education, and other areas as well. First, they expect you to perform the best with scarce funds and your talent, and then they would assist you or offer the reward. Time is crucial in competition; if the resources are made available on time, the medal tally will be in the current multiples. Even if some of the states are doing well, others are not adopting their models and continue to believe that the athletes, researchers, students, and scientists will do the best they can with the resources they have. Universities are closed, research laboratories are shuttered, and the government wants revolutionary research—the monolithic Hypocricy—much like sports in education.

गजब का देश है भारत, ओलम्पिक में मेडल ले आये तो करोंडो दे देगा और उसके पहले खर्च के नाम पे ढेला भर नहीं। ट्रक पे बैठ के खिलाडी खेलने पहुंचते हैं, कुछ को बैलेंस्ड डाइट भी नसीब नहीं होता और प्रतियोगिता के पहले की यह लड़ाई बेकार समझी जाती है अगर वो  मेडल नहीं जीत पाते, कोई याद नहीं रखता, भारतीय परिस्थिति में ओलम्पिक में क़्वालिफ़ाइ करना भी आसान नहीं है। 

भारत की सरकारों की यह विचित्र मानसिकता किसी क्षेत्र विशेष के लिए नहीं है , सभी क्षेत्रों (मसलन रिसर्च, ट्रेनिंग, एजुकेशन, आदि)  में सरकारें आपसे ये अपेक्षा करती हैं की पहले अपनी काबिलियत से (अति सीमित संसाधनों के प्रयोग से ) कुछ करके दिखाओ फिर हम आपको सुविधाएँ या रिवॉर्ड देंगे। यदि यही सुविधाएँ यदि समय पर प्रदान की जाएँ तो उपलब्धियों में आशातीत वृद्धि हो जाएगी। कुछ राज्यों के बेहतर प्रदर्शन को देखकर भी अन्य राज्य कुछ करने को राजी नहीं। कुछ ऐसा ही है की यूनिवर्सिटीज बंद रखें, लैब्स बंद हों और ग्राउंड ब्रेकिंग रिसर्च की इच्छा जतायें। अखंड पाखंड है।

गंवई पंचाइत

एक बार फिनौ पंचाइत के, पुरवा के लोग इकट्ठा बा  बियहा एकड़ के बात नाइ, दावन पे एक एक लाट्ठा बा  आबादी चक तो सुलटि जाय, पर मसला यहिं के पट्टा बा ।।  यहि पुरवा के कुलि प्राणिन के, एक दूसरे से मन खट्टा बा  केउ सुनत नाइ सब खोलि रहे, दुसरे के कच्चा चिट्ठा बा ।।  कानूनगो अउ लेखपाल, समझाई भयेन अरु गयें हारि भागेन दुइनौ जन घर अपने, मसला परधान के तरे डारि ।।  परधान और कुछ पंच लगे, तब सुनइ कुलिन के कान पारि कउनो के मसला घर दुआर, कउनो के झंझट अहइ सारि केउ कहे की वो बेईमान हैन, ऊ कहै वो हमका देहें मारि ।।  पुरवा के कटका धिंगरी से, परधानौ तब ई गयेन समझि  परधान और पंचाइत से, इ बात कबहुँ पाए ना सुलझि पद बोले से सब मनिहैं न, अउ मसला जाये और उलझि ।।  एकर दुइयै पैराया बा, या तो आपस में लेईं बूझि  नाहित दौरें तहसीली में, अउ कगजेन से सब लेइँ जूझि ।।  © अमित तिवारी (ये रचना 9 जुलाई 2021 को लिखी गयी। कल 8 जुलाई 2021 को गांव की ही एक पंचायत में जाने का मौका मिला, ये कविता उसी घटनाक्रम का कलमबद्ध रूपांतरण है। आज भी गाँवों में पंचायते होती हैं लेकिंन अधिकांश में परिस्थितियां उपरिलिखित पंक्तियों जैसी ही होती हैं

A Casual Visit

Recently, on June 4th 2022, I got a chance to visit my friend Anand Kumar Singh at his home, which is located in Singhpur village of Payagpur Tashsil, District Baharaich. We had planned to meet in Delhi, his temporary address, when he was preparing for the UPSC civil services exam. But since in the recent development he got Rank 206 in UPSC 2021 and secured the position for IAS, also he was very much demanded by his natives consequently he had to return to his home at Baharaich, and as pre-planned, I went to meet him at his home. My home is at Malikpur Nonara Village of Kadipur Tahsil, District Sultanpur. Even though We both belong to the Awadh region of Uttar Pradesh, it is not so easy to travel to each other's homes using public transport. Our houses are around 200 Kms far from each other, but it took about 7-8 hours for me to reach his home this time.
